Almost Half of Survey Respondents Prefer to Live in Pro-Cannabis Areas

As more and more groups make their support of cannabis, more surveys are looking to prove this support. In fact, a majority of U.S. adults support the decriminalization of cannabis. A recent study performed in October took this a step further by looking into how many people would prefer to live in pro-cannabis areas, or areas in which cannabis is legalized. This means that, by examining the different parts of the survey, further support for legalization becomes apparent.

Details

The real estate brokerage firm, Redfin, published the survey by having 1023 people answer the questions. During the survey, it, among other things, described how 46 percent of respondents would either “prefer to live” or “will only live” in pro-cannabis areas. Specifically, 34 percent of that 46 preferred to live where the law no longer prohibits cannabis for adult use. However, 12 percent replied that they would only live in legal cannabis areas. On the other hand, 32 percent of survey respondents stated that they didn’t care one way or the other about whether or not cannabis is legal.

Merely ten percent of the survey-takers stated they would absolutely not live in an area where cannabis is legal. Additionally, 12 percent said that they would prefer not to live in those areas.

Further Support

The fact that this survey demonstrated people’s preference for living in the pro-cannabis areas further supports the aforementioned survey. This means that the majority of U.S. adults support the decriminalization. It also goes along with previous articles discussing how legalization leads to an increase in home values. This could further explain why people would choose to live in these pro-cannabis areas. This is because, thanks to the increase in home values, it also leads to other improvements.

It is the hope of activists and other supporters that surveys like this one will help clear the path for legalization.
