Ohio Now Allows Drive-Thru Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

While the debate over the legalization of cannabis continues, some states, like Ohio, are going beyond that to offer more benefits to cannabis-users. Ohio has actually been making things easier for cannabis-users for a while now. Last year, while everyone was having to deal with the pandemic, Ohio was implementing new regulations to make it easier. Now, they’ve recently added new ways to make things even easier for cannabis-users, like drive-thru dispensaries.

Carryout

As already mentioned, last year, March of 2020, Ohio added regulations that offered temporary carryout. Specifically, it allowed dispensaries to “conduct sales outside of the dispensary building”. Namely this means that they allow for curb-side carryout. For example, it allowed authorized sales to include delivery of a product to the parking lot or front entrance of the dispensary. It also allowed the delivery of a product to a person at a walk-up or drive-thru window.

Drive-Thru

As of September 14, Ohio has solidified its position on drive-thru medical cannabis dispensaries. They now allow the applicants for medical cannabis dispensaries to include drive-thru windows. In fact, they will be offering 73 new licenses to medical marijuana dispensaries. Each of these new dispensaries will have the option to add a drive-thru option as well.

Benefits

With the addition of these windows, they will offer increased convenience to their customers. Additionally, they will also provide a healthier option to get their orders, specifically in regards to the ongoing pandemic and its restrictions.

Potential

With the introduction of these new regulations, medical cannabis patients will now have a much easier time getting their medications. Plus, as people are still dealing with COVID restrictions, the drive-thru windows will allow the customers to get those medications while still dealing with the restrictions.

Activists hope that, as pro-marijuana states create new regulations to help the burgeoning industry, the federal government and the few holdout states will become more open to allowing the legalization.
