Denver Sees Its First Cannabis Delivery Go to Strawberry Fields

In May of this year, Denver, Colorado approved a cannabis delivery measure. This allows dispensaries to partner with approved delivery services and bring cannabis to peoples’ homes across the city. Now, with four approved delivery services, cannabis delivery launches for participating dispensaries.

On Thursday, August 19, Nick Barbagallo in the Washington Park area of Denver became the first cannabis delivery customer in the city. He ordered from Strawberry Fields during their delivery soft launch and received his order through Doobba. “It’s also nice for people who do not want to be seen at a dispensary or have time to get to a dispensary,” said Barbagallo after he received his delivery. “Or there are just too many options when you are in a dispensary and it’s overwhelming.”

“We are kind of accustomed to getting everything delivered. Our groceries, our medicine, our clothing, our basic needs. So now this is just one thing we can deliver and provide that type of service,” said Doobba owner Karina Cohen. “This is so exciting. We are finally here making history getting cannabis delivered to people’s homes safely, and legally,” she continued.

Citizens 21 and over can order cannabis from dispensaries from 8 a.m. until midnight every day and can have products delivered right to their door. Deliveries can cross into other jurisdictions that allow delivery, such as Aurora, Colorado.

Response

“We are super excited to be the first in Denver. We are ready to crush it and make it our own and hopefully lead by example for others that follow,” said Strawberry Fields COO Faline Vanlandschoot

In addition to complimenting a booming cannabis industry, delivery services like Doobba announced their excitement to work with those previously restricted from past jobs because of past cannabis convictions. Doobba owner Arin Cohen is one such man. He also noted that to receive a delivery permit, there are only income requirements, not previous conviction limitations. Social equity forms are taking effect and opening the cannabis industry up to more people.

Cannabis delivery will potentially become a huge industry. This will increase the amount of tax revenue the state receives. More people may use this service for the convenience it offers. When asked about his business and the expected growth, Cohen said that delivery will make Doobba “hopefully huge. Yes, we hope very big. That’s what we are hoping for and planning on.”

“This really opens up for people who may be new to cannabis to try things out in a safe and secure way,” his wife, Karina added.
