Aptera Motors’ Solar Powered Hemp Car Will Begin Production

Energy efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles are supposedly the way of the future. Aptera Motors is capitalizing on this by launching their own solar powered, hemp based vehicle.

The Paradigm

The Paradigm is a three wheeled, solar powered vehicle designed to travel up to 1,000 miles a day on a full battery charge. It’s also aerodynamic to allow the vehicle to streamline down roads and conserve energy to allow for longer drives.

The body of the Paradigm is carbon, Kevlar, and hemp compared to other vehicles using steel. The lighter weight body composition also leads to its energy efficient design.

Aptera Motors’ Paradigm also has a 100-kWh battery, one of the best quality vehicle batteries on the market. It’s what allows the vehicle to travel for long distances without the need for a recharge. Plus, the battery naturally charges when parked in sunlight. There’s no need to charge it. Additional solar panels can be attached to the hood and the rear hatch for longer distances.

Thankfully, the Paradigm can be charged in case its cloudy or its parked in a garage. The electric based power isn’t as efficient as the solar power. But having a backup is necessary for investors who live outside of California, where Aptera Motors is located.

This Batmobile reminiscent vehicle will begin mass production by the end of 2021. Aptera Motors now has enough sponsors and crowdfunding income available. A San Diego production facility will be constructed this summer.

Public Interest

Currently, Aptera Motors reported that there are around 8,000 preorders for the Paradigm. These preorders have also created around $250 million in revenue for Aptera. This has allowed for the final push for mass production set up.

The basic Paradigm model will retail around $26,000 with the Paradigm Plus set around $46,000. Compared to its top competitors, the Tesla Model 3 sells for around $36,000 and the Lucid Air around $77,400. That makes the Paradigm by Aptera Motors the more affordable energy efficient vehicle model respectively.

Aptera Motors hopes to sell around 2,000 units a year for the first few years of mass production. They then plan to bump it up to around 20,000 units as production costs become more efficient and in increase in public interest.
